What is needed to involve (more) men in gender equality work at our university? And beyond that: How can measures be designed that actually lead to sustainable change? The “Chair of Politics & Gender, Diversity & Equality” (Department of Political Science), in collaboration with the “Theater of the Oppressed Vienna” (TdU Vienna), hosted the theater event.

It took place under the patronage of “ATHENA – Salzburg Center for Intersectional Research” and took place on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Erika-Weinzierl Lecture Hall.

As part of the course “Men for Equality? Legislative Theatre”, students are developing a performance that aims at making hidden institutional dynamics visible. This event is supported by a team of decision makers and policy experts:
• Michaela Rückl (VR for Education and Student Experience),
• Elias Felten (VR for Human Resources),
• Marianne Schulze (Chair of the University Council),
• Jan Cemper-Kiesslich (Works Council of the Scientific University Staff),
• Marie Stenitzer (Chair of the Austrian Students' Union/ÖH) & Feminist Policy Office,
• Ines Grössenberger (Chamber of Labour / AK Salzburg),
• Katharina Obenholzner, BA MA MA (Public Employment Service /AMS Salzburg).

The dialogue with these decision-makers and policy experts, student representatives, and the audience has result in a policy report, where course participants has also develop concrete evidence-based recommendations for action at the University of Salzburg to support the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality), which is the prerequisite for achieving all other SDGs.
